If you are here, I assume you already know the basics...

I'm not going to go into specifics about D&D or any other TTRPG. That's because you can (probably) use any TTRPG and be successful! The help I'm aiming to provide is not specifically about D&D, but in general TTRPGs being used therapeutically. So, if you're here but never played one, stop! Go play! Get some friends together! Find a game online!

If you've played one but never been a GM, stop! Go and GM a game at your local game shop or invite your friends! You need to know what it's like "behind the screen," as they say, before you are ready to make it therapeutic for clients.

Okay, now that it's just us, let's get into it.

There are several factors you're going to need to decide on before actually accepting client and then beginning the group. Everything from group logistics (like session duration, group size, meeting methods) to gameplay logistics (like theater of mind or virtual tabletops) to ethical considerations (like consent forms, safety tools).

The easiest way to get started is with the free checklist you can download below.

Arm yourself with knowledge!

If you want the meat and po-ta-toes too...

The Essentials Starter Pack is going to help you get everything you need to start feeling confident. We go into detail on everything in the checklist, provide examples and samples for the critical items, and I include some of my advice from years of personal experience facilitating a therapeutic D&D group. It's exactly what I wish had been available when I started years ago. â€‹We will go in depth on each of the following questions:

What elements can make a TTRPG therapeutic?

What ethical considerations should you know?

What is the right format for your group?
